Dead Solid Perfect
It took them forever as usual to post the grades for the semester, but they were finally posted Friday morning. I received straight A's in what I refered to as my most important and exciting semester ever. I received straight A's for the semester as well as the school year (Fall 02-Spring 03), Dean's List, Semester Academic Honors, and of course the other nice awards/perks such as the International Honour Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholors, and the Financial Aid Awards.
Wow, I need to write all that down with other things I accomplished since 2002 and carry it around with me as documentation when I get in other peoples' faces and remind them that I am the man right now.
So, while I'm still the man and still have all the stroke around here, I decided to upload some of the work I did in the Spring.

Memorable Weekend
Once again the memorial day weekend was a wash-out. I wanted to go to the beach with my family over the weekend but I had to work on Saturday and Sunday and I wasn't too excited about driving hundreds of miles to sit in the cold rain. Plus I needed to spend some time around the house since I just finished the spring semester.
Aaron and Amy came into town Saturday. Aaron called me with one of his famous "We're on our way to Maryland...Now!" messages. We all finally got together on Memorial Day (Aaron, Amy, Craig and myself). We spent a little time at my house as I showed everyone some of my recent artwork and passed out some mix cds. I will probably name a portion of my basement "The Zosimo Monzon III Memorial Art Wing -- I'm not dead yet!"
Then we went to Tia's for food and fun conversation and back to my house to watch some of Aaron's videos. Ahh, it was like old days. And it was interesting how we were able to get together on the memorial day weekend and it was not at the HFStival.
Aaron hosted a cookout on Tuesday at his family's house. The food was great, I had fun hanging out with Aaron, Amy and the Millers. We also played GTA Vice City on Albert's PS2. Now I'm hooked on 80's radio hits and running over pedestrians.

I get older, they stay the same age
I saw an advertisement for the Lizzie McGuire movie. It reminded me of a comment Craig made when we went to see X2 -"I refuse to believe she's only 15..."
It also reminded me of Kirsten Dunst and a comment I made when Spiderman came out. People really started drooling over her when she did Bring it On and Spiderman. I simply stated that "When you see these new movies and start to look upon Kirsten Dunst with lustful eyes, remember that she was the little girl in Jumanji and Inteview with a Vampire." And then I laugh as a look of confusion or guilt comes over that person's face.
I think I made a similar comment about American Beauty. "When you see American Beauty and look upon Thora Birch with lustful eyes, remember that she was the little girl in Monkey Trouble."
So, now when you see the Lizzie McGuire movie and get a chubby looking at Hillary Duff, remember that she was the little girl in 'Casper Meets Wendy'.

I love a rainy night
It has rained nearly everyday this month, and it seemed to rain alot in March and April especially on the weekends. I'm not complaining since I wished for rain for the longest time. We were in a drought for what seemed like a year and last fall it changed. Since then it's been very wet, even in the winter when we had all that snow. I really love it when it rains hard at the end of the night. I can leave the windows open and listen to hard rain pelting the leaves of the mighty oak in my front yard and the soft rumbles of thunder echoing through the forest behind my house.
I also got tired of summer-like springs. It would go from winter to summer in late April. The temperatures have been nice and cool so far this spring.
Due to all the rain, I have only been able to wear my nice new White Nikes a few times. When I bought them it reminded me of a day eight years ago when I hung out with my friend from high school Chris Johnston. We went by the awkwardly placed foot locker in Clinton, Md and it was the first time we had seen a pair of shoes with Nike in lower case cursive on the heel. He said something like "a girl sees nike stitched like that on your shoe and you're gonna get laid". I guess when the weather clears up we'll have to put this theory to the test.

The Slow & The Curious
I saw a report on tv about the street racing fad. The most interesting portion of the report was that police are actually arresting the audience/by-standers and they are fined and/or given jail time. The logic behind it is that they are encouraging the racing and if the police deter them from watching, it might eliminate some of the racing. I agree with the theory but I don't agree with fact that they can arrest someone for watching. Encouraging or not, it's the racers that are breaking the law.
I've noticed this street racing attitude during the last couple of years. I see it all the time when I make my underwhelming trips to Waldorf, MD. It's that whole macho, male struttin', bravado. I see these hot shots in their 'tricked out' Hondas, Mitsubishis, and Mustang GT's at intersections. They floor it when the light turns green, only to slam on the brakes 1/10 of a mile later when they hit another red light. Maybe it's just me, but racing up to multiple red light on RT 301 seems pointless and is just a waste of gas.

Picture Perfect
It was a picture perfect day, I haven't felt this good since they started making plastic liquor bottles.
I took my final exam in 20th Century Art and turned in all my work for Graphic Design including my shopping bag design. I got off early but decided to stick around the area so I could go back and pick up my bag and notebook. I continued my method of celebration (gluttony) with excessive eating and shopping. I treated myself to a nice lunch at Chick-Fil-A and topped it off with McDonald's new Triple Thick Raspberry Milkshake. It cost $2.00, I don't know if it was worth $2.00 but it was a pretty good fucking shake. Then I went on a shopping spree, video games, computer stuff, clothes, etc. Reminding myself all day that I'm still the man, self love can be fun.
I picked up my stuff, went home and enjoyed an evening of beer and wrestling. I'm enjoying these good times while they last.

Several Hour Photo
I did an all day wedding photo shoot with Marty. I had the opportunity to be his assistant for the day. It was fun, as well as a learning experience. We made the trip to Dale City/Potomac Mills Virginia for the wedding. Traffic and driving around was actually nice, I was shocked since going to Virginia is a usually cluster-fuck. The wedding and reception were nice. And so was the music, food and alcohol.
I finally got to see his two new snakes too, both large and gorgeous. Here's a picture of me with Marty's Bald Python Whatcha Gonna Do Brother?

The Last Day
Dress up week was groovy, now I pass the torch to this dude I found hanging by a rope in the doorway of the Visual Concepts room. Today is the last regular school day (like any day in my life is 'regular'). It's the last full day, the last lecture class in Art History before the final, the last regular class for Graphic Design, and the last day for Drawing.
It was very cold and windy for a spring day in May. But even in the spring a cool, overcast day seems pretty. I sat outside and had some General Tso's Chicken and picked a four leaf clover on the way to Graphic Design. I had a chance to take pictures with my class and chill for most of the day. The highlight of the day was going over our life-size self portraits in Drawing. I spent a good chunck of Fri-Sun working on it in sessions. We had a little party with snacks and refreshments and it was a fun class.

Damn it feels good to be a gangster
Today is day five of National Zosie Dress Up Week. Today is also the last day for my VPA Ideas in the Arts class. It was not such a bad class after all. One day a week worked out nice, but I hate commuting to school on a friday. Hopefully no more nasty, rainy, traffic filled trips to campus on fridays from here on out.
Also I realized I did come late to class quite often with no consequence since all I had to do was sign in. I should be able to make it to a 2pm class on time even if it's not really important. If a man can get his arm trapped under a boulder, break it/cut it off with a dull pocket knife over the course of a few days, climb down a cliff, and walk miles for help, I should be able to make it to an afternoon class on time.
Today I am a Olde Time Gangster

We will rule the empire together
Today is day four of National Zosie Dress Up Week. I did my typical sleep in late and go to work at five thursday thing. So dress up was limited, I did have a chance to wear my costume with my mothers bathroom serving as a contrasting background.
Today I am the Dark Lord Darth Vader

Also, as a follow up on 'The Life and Times of Zosimo Monzon III', Alan asked for updates on the casting. Ask and you shall receive. Anyone who makes the effort to inquire will most likely have the actor/actress for his or her character revealed. The part of Alan Defibaugh will be played by:

John C. McGinley

I'm a cop you idiot
Today is day three of National Zosie Dress Up Week. It was a good day at school. I got every thing done that needed to be done. I turned in my drawing portfolio and got to leave early only to face rainy, rush hour traffic. I hate the fact that they shut down a highway for an accident. Push that shit to the side of the road. People who are injured in the accident will still be injured on the side of the road. The needs of many outweigh the needs of the few.

Cinco De Mayo/Dress Up Week
Today is that special day, it's the 8th anniverary of my senior prom. I was the man that night, and I still am.
Today is also the beginning of National Zosie Dress Up Week. I decided I will dress up in crazy outfits for every day of the week, go figure.

Solsbury Hill
These lyrics moved me in the months of April and May, 1995. Eight years ago on May 4th, I had bought this song on cassette and sat in my mom's car in a parking lot and listened to it, it was powerful. One day before the prom and under an overcast sky at dusk, I felt at peace. Thus this and other songs helped to define an era and shape my romantisized outlook.

Free Money, Free Cake, Free Comics, Free Movie!
And good times and good friends! This had been an exciting season in what has been a championship run by yours truly. I am continuing the success and good luck established in 2002. On Monday the 28th, I got home from school and in the mail I received a letter stating that I got my free pell grant money for the next school year. (The gov't will pick up about half the tab)
I went to giant to pick up food for my mom and, due to a pricing error, received a free cake.
Today was National Free Comic Day and I went to my comic book store Comics MD and received all kinds of discounts and hook-ups. T-Bone and Heather, the radio personalities of my favorite radio station 98.3, were there. I got to eat some cake, got some comics, someone drew me, there was a mini-horse ride and I met some local celebrities.

Little Horse Ride
Draw Me!

Later in the evening Craig and I got some diner food and saw X2. I had a few matinee free tickets for X2 which discounted the evening price considerably, and the movie rocked.

All in all, it's been a great year so far. I've had good luck lately. I've also been on top of things at school and at home. Proper planning, decision making, good looks, a great personality, talent and creativity are all obvious factors helping to reinforce the fact that I am the man right now.

The Life and Times of Zosimo Monzon III
Continuing in the tradition of my journal entry from April 1st, here is some more fabrication.
This summer ABC will be showing the made for tv movie based on the screenplay based on the novel "The Life and Times of Zosimo Monzon III"
A story that recounts the remarkable first 25 years of Zosimo's life. This will be a two-parter, airing two consecutive nights on ABC.
I can't reveal too much or else I'll spoil it. As far as casting, I can say that the parts of Craig Anderson and Lisa Horn will be played by:

Steven Weber and Rae Dawn Chong
